Hospital Tour

Overview

Above all, the Heart Hospital of New Mexico was designed to be a healing environment, with private patient rooms and warm, natural colors in abundance. In addition to state-of-the-art operating rooms, labs and emergency facilities, there are several seating and gathering areas for visiting family and friends, as well as a casual and welcoming café. Various outside environments complement the interior setting, including a healing garden located outside the emergency entrance and patio areas on the second floor.

Patient Rooms

All 55 patient rooms at the Heart Hospital of New Mexico have been designed to function at every level of care, dramatically reducing patient transfer within the hospital setting. Each room is private with comfortable seating areas for visiting family and friends. A sleeper bed is also available so one family member or friend may stay overnight which encourages loved ones to be involved in the patient’s recovery and rehabilitation. A complimentary dinner meal will be provided to the guest. We also have 24-hour visitation.

Our Hospitalist team consisting of several physicians board certified in Internal Medicine as well as midlevel providers, all belonging to the Milagro Medical Group, PC, will assist your physician in managing medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disease, osteoporosis, high cholesterol, peptic ulcer disease, cancer and any other non-cardiac related problem. They also assist in providing a safe discharge from the hospital.

The Heart Hospital of New Mexico is the only hospital in the state that provides Aquapheresis medical therapy.  This therapy is designed to remove excess salt and water from the body safely, predictably, and effectively in patients suffering from fluid overload.

Emergency Department

The Heart Hospital features seven emergency and trauma/observation rooms for advanced, complete emergency care for heart and other medical emergencies. The Heart Hospital’s emergency department utilizes the American College of Cardiology (ACC) guidelines for diagnosing and treating chest pain, focusing on minimizing the time between a patient’s arrival and the start of treatment. We are also a fully accredited Chest Pain Center recognized by the Society of Chest Pain Centers. All seven emergency rooms are self-contained and private.

Operating Rooms

The Heart Hospital’s four operating suites have been created for different types of procedures. They are significantly larger to comfortably accommodate the staff and specialized equipment necessary for different types of surgery, including cardiovascular and thoracic procedures, as well as our expanded services such as gynecology, orthopedic, ENT and general surgery. They also have easy accessibility from the emergency and day patient areas, as well as inpatient rooms. The suites were designed based on the input of our nationally recognized physicians.

Catheterization Labs

Located on the first floor adjacent to the emergency department and the operating suites, four digital catheterization labs are accessible for cardiac medical situations. These labs include technology to yield high resolution images of a patient’s heart and coronary arteries and specialized labs for electrophysiology and peripheral vascular procedures.
